Method:
Preheat the oven to 180C.
Put all of the ingredients in a bowl and mix together until smooth.
Pour the mixture into a loaf tin with a loaf tin paper case.
Bake in the oven for 45 - 50 minutes or until golden brown.
Gently lift the paper case out of the tin and leave on a wire rack until cold.
While the cake is cooling make the buttercream. To do this beat the butter in a large bowl until soft. Add half of the icing sugar and beat until smooth.
Add the remaining icing sugar and 1tbsp of the milk and beat the mixture until creamy and smooth. Beat in the rest of the milk if necessary to loosen the mixture.
When the cake is cool, cut each loaf in half horizontally. Then layer the cake with a layer of buttercream and jam in between each layer of cake.

Now onto decorating the cake.
Melt 3tbsp of jam in a bowl and brush over the cake. This will let the icing stick to the cake easier.
Put the 3 packets of red icing together and then roll out on top of a layer of icing sugar until it is 1cm thick. Then carefully lift the icing sugar over the cake. Gently cut away the excess icing and mould around the cake.
For the windows, cut out squares in the red icing once on the cake
Then roll out the black icing and cut out windows. Then press these squares into the spaces in the red icing.
To seal the windows, go around each square with black writing icing.
To make the bumper, roll some black icing into a 'snake' shape and place around the bottom of the cake.
Use the icing writing pens to create headlamps, the number plate and bus number.
To make the wheels, roll up some black icing into a ball and slightly squash it.

Making the cake is the easy part to this recipe.
To help with the icing, I used a mini plastic rolling pin especially made for working with icing. This helped smooth out the rough parts.
For the windows I made templates out of card.
Be prepared to spend a few hours on this cake.
